ISS Services

Originally ISS only manufactured asphalt-rubber binder with their state of the art field blending and manufacturing equipment.  As the modified asphalt and construction industry has evolved ISS has developed other pavement preservation binder materials that have a myriad of uses and are specified based on Pavement Condition Index (PCI), including consideration of present and future traffic volume, percentage of truck traffic, special or specific individual project variables and environmental conditions.

International Surfacing Systems (ISS) is a full service chip seal and binder supply company offering complete engineering and design services through Mactec Engineering and Consulting, Inc., along with in house quality control/quality assurance and value engineering.  We operate and maintain a variety of spreader, nurse, transport and flat bed trucks, heat tanks, heater blenders, meter tankers, reaction vessels, Suparton Mills, and various other types of equipment.  This wide variety of specialized equipment is needed to manufacture and apply or supply asphalt-rubber and the many other binder materials that ISS has developed or improved upon, along with additional support needed for our growing conventional division.

ISS continues to focus on quality in all aspects of operation and to strive to be the best we can be as a company resulting in successful projects for all of our clients.  As we achieve this success ISS will continue to be the largest chip seal contractor in Arizona and California.  Our equipment will not be doing this for us it will be our dedicated people.

ISS Quality Control/Quality Assurance

Through Mactec Engineering and Consulting, Inc., International Surfacing Systems (ISS) implements and maintains a high level of quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC).  This effort is present on every project that ISS is associated with and will range from value engineering, specialized binder design, chip seal design, hot mix design, project inspection, research and development.  This partnership depends on the need of the agency and the level of involvement that ISS has committed to.

Each aspect of our QA and QC criteria is very important, not only when considering the growth and creditability that ISS has experienced over the past number of years, but they are equally important to the specifying agencies that ISS works with.  This is from the standpoint that the agency is made certain, concerning the rehabilitation system that has been recommended, that their project will not only be designed and placed properly but the expected long term performance and cost savings is real and predictable.

There are many variables to account for with any pavement preservation project and having the proper criteria from the initial design concept through construction has proven to give the City, County or State DOT’s the confidence to specify asphalt-rubber systems for the rehabilitation of their roadways. Having this comprehensive QA and QC program in place is critical to our success and we will strive to continue to improve and expand our knowledge, passing this important information and experience onto our clients.
