 Blender Operator – Reports to Project Superintendent

 

Performs the manufacture of various types to field blended binder materials including asphalt-rubber binder, rubberized asphalt binder, polymer modified asphalt-rubber binder, rubberized scrub seal binder and polymer modified asphalt binder within the various specification requirements and established safety standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Actual scope of responsibility will often exceed this general outline.  Attendance is mandatory.

 

  • Responsible for the manufacture of the various binder materials mentioned above.
  • Continuously monitors blender components, quality and condition of binder material and performs lube and fuel.
  • Maintain inventory and meet schedule to coincide with chip seal or hot plant operations.
  • Preparation of specified binder material based on laboratory binder design.
  • Performs viscosity testing.
  • Monitor fuel levels and keeps superintendent aware of possible problems.
  • Collect and turns in time cards for “blender laborers”.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements and office procedures relative to departmental operations.
  • Responsible, on occasion, for minor equipment maintenance.
  • Set up and tear down of blending and reaction equipment.
  • Transport of equipment, calibration and unload/load of materials.
  • Special projects as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES include overseeing plant laborers relating to training, safety, inspecting their work, budgeting, coaching and/or counseling.

Blender Laborer – Reports to Blender Operator

 

Assists blender operator in the manufacture of asphalt-rubber and other binder materials manufactured in the field that may be required by specification on various projects, within established safety standards.

  • Assist blender operator in the manufacture of asphalt-rubber and other modified binder materials.   
  • Maintain supply of materials for the manufacture of modified binder materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness of blend site.
  • Loads and unloads spreader trucks and transport trucks.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.
  • Assists in set up and tear down of all blending and reaction equipment.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Chip Box Operator – Reports to Project Superintendent

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Attendance is mandatory.

 

  • Responsible for operation and maintenance of chip box.
  • Responsible for accurate application of aggregate into the properly applied modified asphalt binder as specified on the project.
  • Ensure daily adjustments and calibrations.
  • Ensure had tools and tar paper are available on the chip box, daily.
  • Responsible for pre-trip inspections making sure equipment is clean, lubricant is current, oil leaks are repaired and brake adjustment is done.
  • Oversee crew to ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for cleaning of individual gates concerning hot pre-coated aggregate application and daily gate adjustment check.
  • Ensure adequate fuel levels in chip box and check tire air pressure level, daily.
  • Maintain daily log book as required.
  • Responsible for timely collection and submission of time cards.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.
  • Special projects as required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES include overseeing chip box laborer, lead roller operator and distributor truck operator along with performance, inspecting, coaching and/or counseling and enforcing safety on the jobsite.

 Distributor Truck Operator – Reports to Chip Spreader Operator

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  A Class “A” CDL with Hazmat and Tank Endorsements is required.  Attendance is mandatory.

 

  • Supervision of the boot-man and squeegee-man.
  • Responsible for accurate binder application rate as per specification.
  • Ensure spreader maintenance, fluid levels, check form oil leaks including hydraulic, lube and binder.  Responsible to assure that equipment is in good operational condition and can perform daily.
  • Responsible for pre trip inspections making sure screens are clean, nozzle alignment is correct, spreader bar is flushed and continually monitoring application rates throughout each load.
  • Oversee crew to ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adequate fuel levels in spreader truck on a daily basis.
  • Maintain driver log book as required.
  • Loading and off loading of asphalt cement and the blended modified binder.
  • Responsible for timely collection and submission of time cards.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.
  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of spreader bar and opacity units.
  • Assist distributor truck operator when needed.
  • Manipulation of opacity units.

  • Responsible for roller operations
  • Responsible for pre-trip inspections making sure roller is clean, lubrication is current and brake adjustment along with tire pressure is maintained.
  • Load required hand tools, tarpaper and miscellaneous consumables, daily.
  • Required to make sure equipment is in good condition to perform, adjust chains, check fluids, loading, unloading and transporting equipment.
  • Ensure adequate fuel level in the roller, daily.
  • Responsible to roll, labor, pull tabs, pop buttons, rake bumps, ridges and piles of aggregate.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all company equipment as required.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards and logbooks.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Attendance is mandatory.

 

  • Responsible for pre sweep of the pavement surface and sweeping excess aggregate off the roadway, after the chip seal is complete, prior to opening lanes to live traffic.
  • Responsible for sweeper broom operation and overall condition.
  • Responsible for pre-operation inspection making sure the broom is clean, lubrication is current, fluid levels are checked, air filters are clean, radiator is clean and brake adjustment is done.
  • Load required hand tools, tar paper and miscellaneous consumables, daily.
  • Ensure adequate fuel levels, daily.
  • Responsible to sweep as required, pop buttons, pull bottom covers, and place tabs.
  • Maintain proper tire pressure, daily.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all company equipment as required.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.

  • Coordinate and oversee the safe and efficient transportation of materials to and from the final destination or project site.
  • Supervision and safety of personal at, to and from various job sites.
  • Critiques the accuracy of documents and monitors completeness.
  • Responsible for pre-trip inspections, transport of materials and ensures adequate vehicle fluid levels, including fuel on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for conveying dispatch orders to truck drivers from project manager and/or superintendent.
  • Interacts and assembles truck drivers daily and dispatches trucks.
  • Assures compliance with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Monitors coating percentage on projects utilizing hot pre-coated aggregate.
  • Responsible for stockpile cleanliness.
  • Monitors trucking production and public safety.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.

  • Oversees truck drivers and loader operator both internal and external

  • Responsible for the loading of aggregate into dump trucks and the clean up of stock pile areas.
  • Ensure loader fluid levels and fuel levels are full on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for pre-trip inspections making sure to grease loader, check tire pressure, along with other maintenance issues as required.  Needs to check bucket wear and make sure transport equipment is in good working order, daily.
  • Loading and off loading of equipment.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.

  • Complete time cards accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for identifying possible safety hazards within the project limits..
  • Notify residents/businesses with the proper door hangers.
  • Responsible for the placing of “No Parking” signs, per specification requirements, on all affected streets.
  • Keeps the Traffic Control Superintendent informed of possible problems.
  • Removal of barricades when required.
  • Responsible for barricade truck, maps and schedule.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements relative to the projects operation.

  • Prepare roads and streets for the application of binder and aggregate within the specification requirements and established safety standards.
  • Responsible for traffic control devices and protection devices.
  • Protect existing utility covers and monuments.
  • Responsible for ensuring drain inlets are protected and kept fully functional and operational.
  • Assists in preparation and clean-up and makes sure streets are clear of “green waste” and parked cars.
  • Maintain Cleanliness of project site.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.
  • Loading and unloading of supplies for traffic control.
  • Clean vehicles and transport CMS.

  • Operates gasoline or diesel powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products or materials in liquid form to individual project sites.
  • Understands and has executed company policy regarding customer focus, environmental compliance and public relations.
  • Has systematically and consistently followed the general rules of driving as outlined in the “Drivers Manual”.
  • Consistently follows attitude, conduct, customer service, equipment problems, job knowledge, safety procedures and paperwork requirements.
  • Completes Pre/Post and roadside vehicle inspections routinely without reminder.
  • Maintains vehicle in compliance with Driver Manual.
  • Demonstrates total competency involving loading and unloading procedures, emulsion handling, asphalt cement handling and pumping procedures.
  • Have thorough knowledge of all paperwork requirements.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards and maint. of driver log book.
  • Assures compliance with established company drug and alcohol policies.
  • Under no circumstances will drivers smoke while loading or unloading asphalt products or where flammable vapors are present. 
  • The professional Drivers failure to promptly notify his/her dispatcher or other designated individuals while at the scene of an accident, injury or incident will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.  Never leave the scene without notifying dispatch!
  • Drive with headlights on at all times.
  • Driver must have a thorough and complete understanding of all the rules and regulations as outlined in the driver’s manual distributed at the time of hire.

Transport Driver Trainee – Reports to Central Dispatch

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  These duties will be performed under the guidance and close supervision of a certified transport driver and the Transportation Manager.  Other duties may be assigned and attendance is mandatory.  A Class “A” CDL with Hazmat and Tank Endorsements may be required.

 

  • Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products or materials in liquid form to individual project sites.
  • Understands and has executed company policy regarding customer focus, environmental compliance and public relations.
  • Has systematically and consistently followed the general rules of driving as outlined in the “Drivers Manual”.

Mechanic – Reports to Superintendent or Shop Foreman

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Actual scope of responsibility will often exceed this general outline.  Attendance is mandatory.

 

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on various types of ISS equipment.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and welding as it relates to equipment maintenance.
  • Responsible for basic electrical and hydraulic maintenance.
  • Maintains documentation of work performed to assure completeness of equipment maintenance.
  • Keeps Shop Superintendent/Foreman informed of possible problems.
  • Maintains field inventories for servicing of equipment.
  • Monitors Preventative Maintenance Program on all equipment.
  • Have thorough knowledge and the capacity to process all paperwork requirements and office procedures relative to departmental operations.
  • Responsible for timely submission of time cards.
  • On call 24/7 to travel when needed to perform maintenance in the field.
  • Special projects as assigned.
